Unlike most costume jewelry, BOND does not use traditionally plated metals. Our jewelry is nickel, copper and brass free. Instead we use PVD Stainless Steel - so our pieces don't turn your skin green with oxidation residue, rust or tarnish and maintain their original color forever.
STAINLESS STEEL
BOND uses 316L stainless steel surgical grade for jewelry. Surgical grade stainless steel pieces are hypoallergenic and have maximum corrosion resistance, preventing them from fading, rusting, tarnishing or turning your skin green over time.
For home goods Bond used 304 Stainless steel, a diswasher safe and rust resistant food grade alloy of stainless steel.
6061 ALUMINUM
BOND uses super-light weight Aluminum 6061 which is 1/3rd of the weight of Silver. Aluminum 6061 is also made mostly from recycled material, making it a more sustainable and conscious option. Earring posts for all Aluminum earring designs are Hypoallergenic, made with 316L Surgical Steel.
TITANIUM
BOND uses implant grade Ti23 Titanium for the most common sizes of piercing bar hardware because of the biocompatibility, hypoallergenic qualities + durability. Titanium earring posts are the best option for healing new piercings and sensitive skin.
PVD GOLD
BOND uses PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), to apply a gold finish to our stainless steel and titanium jewelry. This high-tech and environmentally conscious vacuum-coating process fuses a microscopically thin layer of 18k Gold to the base metal (in our case, stainless steel and titanium).
Unlike conventional electroplating, PVD doesn't rely on adhesives or chemical bonding and doesn’t produce toxic waste; instead, it creates a molecular bond with the base metal, making it significantly more resistant to tarnish, corrosion, and fading.
PVD provides us both visual impact and performance, allowing us to offer pieces that maintain a bold, gold presence without compromising our standard of permanence, sustainability, and material integrity. PVD jewelry is also being referred to nowadays as “waterproof gold”.
DIAMOND
Unlike most jewelry, BOND does not use traditional electroplating which Is toxic, temporary and pollutes our water. Instead, our Gold Stainless Steel pieces are made using PVD method, that is safely contained in a vacum chamber, waste free + permanent creating pieces that last forever.
Our jewelry is nickel, copper and brass free. This means our pieces are hypoallergenic, do not turn your skin green, rust or tarnish.
935 ARGENTIUM SILVER
BOND’s Silver pieces are 100% recycled solid silver, never plated, and require little to no polishing. Naturally tarnish resistant, Argentium Silver is nickel free, hypoallergenic, more sustainable and pure than sterling silver. For more information, read our Product Care section.
Argentium Silver is more also sustainable because it does not firestain, eliminating the toxic stain removal process during production, making it safer for your body, environment and the manufacturer.
